I was told this edition was safe to use for underwater US. I finally tried it for the first time after years of having this unit, but I don't think it was meant for that. When finished, water started leaking out of the seams of the wand and the cord attachment at the bottom of the wand! I shook out the water, have turned it on and heard strange sounds; but now I have used it a few times since to test it, seems to be working with regards to turning on and not making the strong electrical sound anymore, but I am not 100% sure it is doing its job. Otherwise, it has/had been a great unit when used without being underwater.
